Yesterday, we visited the 5th-grade classroom to learn about computer science through the international event Hour of Code, using the website Code.org. The event is designed to build enthusiasm for computer science and expose students to basic computer programming during a fun-filled half-hour session. Over 100 million students from over 180 countries participated around the world last year, and they’re expecting even more this year!
The 5th-grade students showed Leadership by Example as they worked one-on-one with our students to help them solve a variety of coding-based puzzles and games. Today’s experience was a great way for us to participate in a worldwide event to enhance our International Understanding, share in a Unit of Inquiry with another class within our school community, and have fun learning about computer science!
